Good morning peeps,
This week Copenhagen will hopefully be a bit more sunny finally, and event-wise we have: a design festival, thought-provoking talks, outdoor concerts, a film screening to cry-dance to, and a couple of other free events you can just show up to. There’s also a fantastic biking event — Copenhagen Sprint. The world’s best female and male cyclists will return to Copenhagen to compete in the new, annual World Tour cycling race. The best part of the Sprint is the free public ride when everyone will have the opportunity to cycle on the closed route before the elite riders!
This week there’s a good mix of stuff to do, I would say. Some calm, some loud, some weird (in a good way). Scroll through, save what speaks to you, and don’t forget to send it to a friend who needs plans ^^
TALK — “Insect Urbanism: The Insect as Worker and Citizen”
A conversation on the role of insects as urban workers—pollinators, decomposers, and ecosystem engineers—and how designing with (and for) them challenges aesthetic norms, maintenance culture, and anthropocentric planning.

TALK — “False and other witnesses”
Human rights are in focus when Professor and lecturer at Bard College, Thomas Keenan, gives a presentation followed by a conversation with current exhibition artist Banu Cennetoğlu. The ticket includes admission to the art gallery's current exhibitions on the same day as the event takes place.

Use the City
If you’re new here (hi and welcome!), I wanted to share two handy guides that can help you unlock all sorts of cool opportunities in the city and make you feel more welcome, so to speak — the kind of places you might not have discovered yet (or maybe had no idea even existed).
If you’re trying to learn Danish (or any language, really), check out the Speaking Club Guide — it’s full of friendly places to practice without pressure.
Into arts and crafts? Any kind, at any level? This Arts & Crafts Guide has a bunch of free community workshops and open studios where you can just show up and make stuff.
They are all totally free, and you’re very welcome to join in on any of them.
If you want to visit one of the libraries, Rentemestervej library in Nordvest has this beautiful giant octopus made from discarded textiles waiting for her visitors until 27 June.
That’s it from this week!
I also share extra events throughout the week on the Denmark Happenings Instagram — little gems that don’t make it into the newsletter. I’d appreciate it if you give it a follow!
PS. Got an event you think should be on here or on Instagram? Just shoot me a message — I’d love to hear from you.
