Welcome back, dear reader.
This week’s newsletter is a bit on the short side - I had absolutely no time to search extensively. But there are quite a few interesting workshops and lectures this week, so I hope you’ll find something to your liking.
I know I mentioned them in previous weeks, but just as a reminder, don’t forget to check Winter Jazz and Copenhagen Light Festival if you haven’t got around to them yet - they’re going on until February 25th.
Alright, let's see what we have this week:
Feb. 19-24: Winter Pride - Think of this as the smaller sibling of the Copenhagen Pride. There are many events within the festival and most of them are free. Check the program and I’m sure you’ll find an event to your liking.
Feb. 20: Brazil Guitar Duo - This is an event from the Vinterjazz program. I’m adding it here as a reminder of the festival but also because you get a glass of bubbly wine 🤷♀️. 100 DKK
Feb. 22: Simple Sewing Workshop - Make drawstring bags and headbands from upcycled fabric. Supplies and snacks are included. 180 DKK
Feb. 22: Speed Friending - Meet other internationals in Copenhagen in a speed-dating setting. 120 DKK
Feb. 22: Audition for basses and altos - This one’s for experienced altos and basses who want to join an a capella group. Free entry
Feb. 22-March 16: Objects of Infinity - A solo exhibition about straw as a material. The artist will also be present and will work with straw.
Feb. 22: The Continuous Upheaval in the Middle East and North Africa Since 2011 - A guest lecture at Copenhagen University for those interested in related topics. Free entry
Feb. 23: CarnaCopenhagen 2024 - A Brazilian Carnival Party with lots of music and danching. 150 DKK

Feb. 24: Winter Workshop Day on Economics and Colonialism - Learn about colonialism and its influence on economic structures today, and how we can work with this in our organisations. Free entry
Feb. 24: Voices of Dignity: Poetry and Music from Ukraine - You’ll hear from six prominent Ukrainian poets and enjoy musical arrangements by Olesya Zdorovetska. While the authors read their poetry and prose in Ukrainian, the same texts will be read in Danish and English by well-known Danish actors and special guests. There’s also an exhibition. Free entry
Feb. 25: Drag Bingo - Bingo with drag queen Betty Bitschlap, in collaboration with Valby Culture House. 100 DKK
Feb. 25: Historical City Walk: Queer in Copenhagen - Learn about how Danish society and the city has been affected by sexuality “outside the norm”. 110 DKK
