Week 15
And the newsletter’s back!
To be honest, I wasn’t going to publish it this week since I had like an hour or so to do some research. But here’s a somewhat short round-up of events I had managed to gather in the previous days/weeks. In the next week’s edition, I expect to have some more time and energy to do a more comprehensive list :)
But for now, here’s what’s happening in Denmark (mainly Copenhagen this time):
Until week 17: Eat With Us — A “food festival” at public institution kitchens in Copenhagen Municipality. The program consists of dinners in daycare centers, primary schools, care homes and social services. Some events are already sold-out, but check the dates and the program, it looks very interesting. 60 DKK
Exhibitions from all over Denmark — This guide is an amazing source to find out about exhibitions, but if you would like to find out about openings in April check this link. Free entry
7 April: Plant Exchange — Expand your plant collection, share your green treasures and meet like-minded plant enthusiasts. It's free to trade, you just have to come up with something to trade with yourself. Free entry
7&14 April: Veras Market — The beloved flea market is back again under the “Arch”. Happy hunting! Free entry
9 April: Fashion Upcycling Workshop — Get access to materials and guidance on how to give the clothes you already own new life! You get a cup of coffee as well. 50 DKK
9 April: Conversation Cafe — Explore the perspectives of social media interaction about how we relate to each other on SoMe, how the use of SoMe has affected the value of our relations, how SoMe affects our mental health, and how we can create new meanings though SoMe. Free entry
10 April: Parliament of Things — The event asks how we can explore important issues in our community from non-human perspectives. This event is hosted by Bybi in collaboration with the Danish Institute for Study Abroad. Free entry
10 April: Salsa & Bachata Social — Dance lessons and party for everyone with a taste for Salsa and Bachata. 50/70 DKK
10 April: Circular Creative Community — Repair, redesign, and sew completely new clothes from used textiles. Just bring some clothes to repair or use the textiles we have received as donations. Free entry
10&11 April: Building Meaningul Connections — Are you looking to develop new meaningful friendships? Tired of repeating yourself on the same questions at networking events. Than these two welcoming evenings (one for 26-34 year olds, one for 35-45 year olds) dedicated to spark meaningful connections through deep, meaningful conversations is for you. Free entry
11 April: Exhibition Opening — “BLUE(S) XXL”, the Danish-Iranian visual artist and musician Simin Stine Ramezanali unfolds his interest in the meanings of the multifaceted color blue - a subject that spans historical, cultural and emotional dimensions. Free entry
11 April: Exhibition Opening — “Baroque Revisited” sheds light on the aesthetics of space, with a focus on recycling of buildings, materials and structures.
11 April: Jazz Lounge — Hand-picked jazz standards in swing style with bossa nova and samba rhythms. And some improvisation. Free entry
11 April: Graduation Exhibition 2024 — Experience the latest visual art by graduating talents from the Academy of Fine Arts. Free entry
11 April: Welcome to Denmark — The event will start with sharing some personal tips on where to network and then you'll have the opportunity to mingle and meet other participants and discuss expat life in Denmark or anything else. Free entry
12-21 April: Frokostfesten — Selected restaurants and cafes will offer a good meal and a non-alcoholic beer from Anarkist - so you can enjoy each other's company together.
13 April: Pool Party — A 3-hour pool party with a DJ, neon lights and a dance floor. 195 DKK
13 April: Language Cafe — Recurring event every other Saturday afternoon. An updated list of languages available will be posted under the Discussion page a few days before the event. Free entry
14 April: Borshoboron — Bengalis in Denmark welcomes you to Borshoboron. Get together to celebrate the essence of Bengal, with fun, adda, games, and of course, sumptuous food. Free entry
April 4-27: Catalan Film Festival 2024 — An extensive film festival with a focus on Barcelona. 110 DKK
Until 28 April: The Digital Life — Three films that put our digital lives up for debate. On 7 April, there’s also a panel discussion about the subject but no info about the language, so enter at your own risk :) 95 DKK
Until 19 May: The Presence of Absence — Syrian-Armenian artist Hrair Sarkissian functions as both an archaeologist and a storyteller, where he uses photographic techniques to conjure up landscapes or places that reveal historical traumas or invisible stories based on both personal and collective memories. 20/40 DKK
Until 22 May: Wonder Awaits — The exhibition "Wonder Awaits" by Leïla Guinnefollau presented at the Institut français du Danemark invites viewers to explore enchanting landscapes frozen in eternal spring, where familiar objects take on a magical aura. Free entry
